Mag Repairs

Mags are a valued addition to any vehicle. They add a pristine and polished look to the overall vehicle design as long as they are in good condition. Modern mags can be scuffed or scratched by hitting curbs or other objects while driving. These road hazards cannot always be avoided. Even a small amount of damage will be obvious and must be repaired in order to keep a vehicle looking new and in pristine condition.

Thankfully modern repair techniques allow for mags to be restored to their original brilliant appeal. To make sure you get the best value for your money, be sure to take your vehicle to a reputable specialist to repair the mags. We repair all types and sizes of mags and can fix almost any damage done to a mag.

Steel Rim Repair

Driving fast over uneven terrain may cause wheel rims to dent, deform, or even crack. A damaged rim will make you feel vibrations on the steering wheel and may even cause the car to steer off course.

Because steel rims are more vulnerable to damage than those made of aluminium, each case is unique and needs to be assessed by a specialist. It is often possible to straighten or even weld steel rims.

Diamond Cutting

Diamond cutting is a very precise process. Diamond cutting can be applied to the full face and lip of the wheel. Combined with an application of base coat paint it can produce some spectacular finishes, with the shiniest results.

Not all wheels can be diamond cut and a wheel can generally be diamond cut 1 to 2 times. Each wheel is assessed individually. If our technician feels that the wheel integrity will be compromised in any way they will not cut the wheel and recommend an alternative finish.

PCD Changes

If the wheels you really want are manufactured exclusively for vehicles with a different stud pattern to yours, a reputable specialist can change the stud patterns for you.

This generally involves either drilling new PCD into blank wheels, alloy welding and machining, or re-drilling a new PCD on top of the original holes.

Inserts

It is common to want to change or customise your wheels. Unfortunately vehicle manufacturers often use different lug bolt patterns to distinguish their wheels. Thankfully wheel inserts can be used to modify a wheel’s bolt pattern such that virtually any wheel can be used with any vehicle.

This is an effective and cost-efficient approach to adapting wheel lug bolt patterns.

Wheel Widening

Wider wheels offer improved grip, traction, cornering and breaking. It could give your car a more sporty look too. Wheel widening allows you to modify your existing wheels to achieve these benefits. Depending on the style of the mag, most wheels can be widened. This is done by adding in a band to the original wheel.

This process has to be done with perfect precision throughout the process and the workmanship needs to be thoroughly checked by a specialist in order to ensure optimal safety on the road.

Aluminium Welding

Aluminium’s lightness (3 times less dense than steel), ability to resist corrosion, and other mechanical properties make it an increasingly popular medium in the transport industry as well as in other fields. Aluminum alloys provide more of a challenge to welders than steel alloys. Aluminum has a lower melting point and higher conductivity than steels, and its feeder is softer. These properties can easily result in burnthroughs and oxide inclusions which reduce overall strength and appearance. Our specialists are able to weld both thin aluminium sheets and thicker aluminium plates with an excellent aesthetic result.

Customised Wheels

Adding a new set of wheels to your vehicle can completely transform its appearance. This is one of the most common customisations among automobile enthusiasts and has been increasing in popularity year after year. Competition-oriented enthusiasts typically switch to lighter, stronger, or larger wheels, while appearance-oriented enthusiasts more often choose larger and more visually distinctive wheels.

Customisations include shape, spinners, and finishes (usually Chrome, Polished and Painted). The possibilities are endless. To ensure that you get a set of wheels that meets your needs, talk to one of our specialists.

High-Speed Polishing

High-speed polishing works to increase the efficiency of waxing, compounding, and polishing. Typically the only way to deal with paint oxidation, deep scratches, chemical etching. It involves smoothing out irregular surfaces of unpainted wheels and removing a fine layer of paint to remove layers of dirt and grime from painted wheels.

This gives a superior result when compared to other methods; however, when used incorrectly, high-speed buffing burns paints, melts plastic, leaves swirls, and causes other damages. Despite the risk, the results are phenomenal when done correctly. This is why you should only trust a mag repair specialist with the high-speed polishing of your wheels.

Mag Spray Painting

Spray painting is a great way to make your wheels unique and personalised. We use only the best type and quality of spray paint to ensure a professional look that endures. Spray painting is often used to tint or recolour wheels but can also be used for more creative designs.

Two-Tone Wheel Painting

A two-tone paint job on your wheels is one way to personalise your ride that completely transforms and renews the overall look. Painted wheels can give a pop of color to intrigue or create a continuous paint scheme throughout the details of the vehicle.

We wouldn’t want a beautiful paint job on the car with wheels that don’t do it justice! Painting your wheels is a simple, inexpensive way to give your vehicle a custom look.

Tips for self-inspection

FREE INSPECTION & QUOTATION?

Mags self-inspection

Visual inspection

With the wheels still on the car, check if there is any visible damage such as scratches bends or even buckles on the wheels. In most cases these will require the wheel to be straightened on the face side and to be either touched up with similar paint or a full face repainting (full refurbishment) – depending on the extent of the damage.

Inner side of wheel inspections

This inspection will require either the car to be raised (being checked on the car) or the wheels to be taken off. The main purpose of this inspection is to check if the inner rims have been damaged. Repairs for these damages could involve straightening, welding and leak testing.
